Reconnecting with a childhood friend can be very special. I recently experienced it and it was magical. It’s been more than 40 years when we set on the front porch of my childhood home and I taught her how to play chess.
She reminded me how shy she was back then, I always just thought of her as quiet. There’s a saying, some friendships are timeless, I definitely agree. Everything special about her then is still the same now, she’ just grown up ,taller but still have all four attributes beauty, charm, funny, and smart.
People change, their priorities change and yet there is a common thread that binds old friends. The thread of shared memories.
We both can now reminisce on memories growing up together, learn what was going on with each other during the time we were apart , and build new memories going forward. I think that’s pretty special.
There is a quote that says,
In everyone’s life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit. ~
I’m thankful for my old friend who I’ve just met as a new friend.
There were good memories and not so good but we both can look back and say we made it. We are here.
